University of Haute Alsace
Founded 1970 as Centre Universitaire under the 1968 law reforming higher education and incorporating Institutions previously attached to former Université de Strasbourg. Became Université du Haut-Rhin with full University status 1975. Acquired present title 1977. The Head of the Institution is its elected President. The Chancelier, who represents the Minister of Education, is the Recteur of the Académie de Strasbourg.
