Leuphana University of Lüneburg (LU)
Founded 1946 as a teacher training college, acquired university status in the late 1970s. Today integrates two formerly independent institutions of higher education – the University of Lüneburg and the University of Applied Sciences. Became a foundation under public law – the highest degree of autonomy awarded to public universities - 2003.
