Founded as provincial School of Music 1816, became Conservatory 1920, Akademie 1963, and University Institution with title of Hochschule 1970. Acquired title of University of Music and Dramatic Arts Graz in 1998, became University of Music and Performing Arts Graz in 2009. A State institution.
