Founded 1975 as Limerick Technical College. Transformed into Limerick College of Art, Commerce and Technology (Limerick CoACT) to include the newly established Limerick School of Art and Design, the School of Professional Studies, located on O'Connell Avenue 1980. Became Regional Technical College in 1993. Upgraded to Institute of Technology 1997. Merged with Tipperary Institute 2011.
