Founded as a Large Scale Farmers Training Centre 1946.Converted to a teachers’ training college and renamed Moi Teachers’ Training College 1984. Taken over by Moi University as a Campus in 1990 and renamed Chepkoilel Campus. Upgraded into a university college and renamed Chepkoilel University College, a constituent college of Moi University 2010. Acquired current status and title 2013.
