Founded 1949, with the Faculty of Liberal Arts and the Faculty of Agriculture on the basis of: Mie Prefectural Normal School Watarai Prefectural Normal School (1874) and Mie Prefectural Yuzo School (1875) that merged in 1943, the Mie Higher Agricultural and Forestry College (1944), founded as the Mie Higher Agricultural and Forestry School (1921), the Mie Normal School for Youth School Teachers (1944), founded as the Mie Prefectural Teacher Training School for Agricultural Continuation School Teachers (1925)
